XIV Foro Ciberseguridad de RedIRIS

XIV RedIRIS Cybersecurity Forum

Murcia. October 28-30, 2025

The University of Murcia will host the 14th edition of the RedIRIS Security Forum 2025 (FCS2025), an event already consolidated as the main annual meeting point for cybersecurity managers and technicians from academic and research institutions. RedIRIS, organizer of the Forum, has been offering advanced cybersecurity services to its affiliated institutions for more than 30 years, promoting cooperation, knowledge exchange and continuous improvement of incident prevention, detection and response capabilities.

In a context marked by the growing complexity of threats and the professionalization of cybercrime, coordination becomes a strategic necessity. Universities and research centers manage critical information infrastructures, sensitive data of thousands of users and technological resources that must be adequately protected to ensure the continuity of teaching, research and community services. The Security Forum seeks precisely to reinforce this coordination, consolidating a space of trust in which to share real experiences, mitigation strategies and lessons learned.

The regulatory landscape is also undergoing important changes. The new NIS2 Directive, already in the process of being transposed in Spain, imposes stricter requirements in terms of security governance, risk management and incident reporting. This more demanding legal framework responds to the real need to raise the level of cyber resilience in all essential sectors, including higher education and research. In this regard, FCS2025 will provide a space to analyze the implications of these new obligations, share approaches to compliance and discuss how best to implement them effectively in the academic environment.

For more than three decades, RedIRIS has proven to be a key ally for universities and research centers, offering services such as IRIS-CERT (its incident response team), alert coordination, threat analysis, training and the promotion of security culture. The continuity of an event such as the Security Forum - now in its 14th edition - reflects the company's sustained commitment to the creation of trust networks and the promotion of collaboration as fundamental tools for combating threats.

The celebration of FCS2025 at the University of Murcia is an exceptional opportunity to consolidate this collaboration between institutions, technicians and security managers, share updated knowledge and strengthen our preparation for present and future challenges. With this, we seek to contribute to a university and scientific community that is more secure, resilient and committed to the protection of its services, data and users.
